So tell us a little bit about yourself?

– Meet Calicove, a Bay Area collective of rock & roll and hip-hop prodigies who are changing the face of entertainment. Reminiscent of the emerging 90’s rock and rap collaborations, Calicove is largely inspired by Run DMC, Nirvana, Tupac, and more current artists Jay-Z and Linkin Park, to name a few. Not to be pigeon-holed into any one style, they coined their own crossover genre: Rap N’ Roll.

But they are greater than just a band. Calicove is an entity that transcends racial, musical, and cultural boundaries through its innovative compositions and image. The high-energy live show features a band with a DJ and is fronted by emcees Authentic and Amazin…and yes, they are. Fans were overwhelmed with “808’s and Rock N’ Roll” , the Calicove mix-tape that released July 24th ’10. It features comedian Spanky Hayes and Bay Area hip hop icons Clyde Carson, Mayne Mannish, and Turf Talk.

After some turbulent experiences with other groups and labels, the members created this group to ensure the musical and business outcome that they would respect and trust. Spearheaded by emcee, Travis “Authentic” Lindsley, Calicove recently signed to his independent label, Authentic Entertainment. With no room for a plan B, Calicove is on the grind and is steadily pushing. There is no doubt the fruits of their labor will be realized with grammies, sold out stadiums, and die hard fans in the years to come. Experience Calicove, authentic entertainment for the masses.

What inspired you to start singing?

– Music to us is just as natural as breathing. It’s something we all grew to love at a young age and don’t plan on doing anything else long term with our career but music.

Were there any hard challenges you had to face in the industry?

– So far our biggest obstacle in the music business is figuring out the different people the people who are honest & sincere, and those who are snakes & liars. When your apart of something good, everyone wants a piece of the cake but no one wants to help bake it.

What ways have you found was the best way to promote yourself?

– Just putting out good music and providing the fans with quality live shows. Staying humble and consistently networking is always a great path when seeking exposure.

What would be your most memorable moment while singing?

– Our first show on July 24th 2010 when we rented out a venue in Palo Alto called Illusions… expectations where high since our buzz was growing faster than expected. We ended up throwing a live show little longer than an hour long and luckily a lot of people came out to support. The venue was PACKED. Couldn’t have had a better night.

Are there any goals that you would like to achieve?

– As any artist we wish to hear ourselves mainstream on the radio station. Can’t wait for our 1st major tour and looking forward to winning some grammy’s one day!

What can we expect from you in the future?

– More music, more music videos and a lot more live performances for sure!

Are there any upcoming albums you are releasing?

– Come Jan/Feb of 2012 we are expected to release our 2nd Mixtape but no dates have been confirmed at this point and time.

What do you think of FKN Famous?

– FKN is very professional and headed in the right direction to becoming a well rounded futuristic website for up and coming artist’s such as ourselves.

Any last shout outs?

– We would love to shout out our label Authentic Entertainment. Our production team Innovative Mindz, A&R / Street Team Manager Sergio Pena, our studio manager & personal engineer Aaron Reppert. Without these key tools our ship would not be sailing in such a great direction. Of course we need to thank our fans / friends / family because without them, our music doesn’t even matter. We hope to represent the Bay Area of California in a respectable fashion and look forward to gaining more and more fans day in and day out.
