So tell us about your brand?

- Group Fly is a brand that is obsessed with creating creative and quality apparel. Our brand has roots in hip hop, skateboarding, and graphic design.

How did you come up with the name?

- Group Fly by definition: A group of people elevating to a higher destination. I wanted a concept that inspired individuals to achieve greatness in whatever they do in life. I believe we are constantly elevating towards something greater in life, I wanted our brand to support that idea in a creative way.

What were you doing before launching your brand?

- I was working as a director in a non-profit, producing hip hop, and doing free-lance graphic design.

When did you begin thinking about launching your own clothing brand?

- It had always been in my sights, but I seriously made a run at it when I came up with the GRPLFY concept.

What best describes your line & who is it targeted to?

- Our brand is classic street wear clothing that pays attention to design and detail. We have a large target audience from creatives, musicians, skaters, sneakerheads, and anyone who appreciate good design.

What influenced you to start this line?

- The 90’s play a huge part in our design process. I am a huge fan of brands that put street-wear on the map in that era. The music the attitude of the 90s greatly inspires what we do as well. Hip hop culture and skateboard culture also influence our brand, a lot of my team have deep roots there.

How is your brand different from others out there?

- I think our approach on how we do our lifestyle brand is different. I think the attention to detail whether it be in our packaging, design or tags is just….DOPE. We also have solid a following in the mid-west, we’ve had artist like Big K.R.I.T., The Cool Kids rock our gear. We even had NBA superstars rock our apparel as well. We had the honor of creating the Kevin Durant Charity All-star game tees in October (shout out to KD he is a beast).

Are there any challenges you run into while running a business?

- Oh yeah, but I love every minute of it. The challenge for us is keeping up with the demand for our production. Another challenge is finding the time between designing, fulfillment, taxes, inventory … to position our brand on a national scope. We are now in the works of developing our cut and sew pieces to present at Magic and Agenda.

What ways did you find promoting your brand worked?

- Social media, blogging, traveling, visual media, and networking. You got to get out to expos, shows, and get a team to promote your brand. We are constantly hitting these avenues to get the word out.

Are there any future plans for your line?

- Cut and sew, flag-ship store, design offices, and more quality apparel .
