Korg Monotron Duo Review

Introduced to us from our good friends over at Max Borges was the company by the name of Korg. Korg was very generous to send us over one of their new Korg Monotron Duo’s to review and get a closer look at. So with that being said, we would personally like to thank Korg for this awesome opportunity!

Now before we start the review, I would personally like to thank the staff over at “Korg” for sending us over this package. Giving us the opportunity to deliver this in-depth product review! We hope that you enjoy it. The package was great, now let’s start the review shall we!

Product Review :

- Packaging : Arriving at our doorstep via FedEx was a package from Korg. As always FedEx is a great affordable way of shipping anywhere. Inside the package we were greeted by the product from Korg neatly in bubble wrap. The packaging of the Korg product was very simple and straight forward. It displayed the product very well, and shared some key information about it. It was also very easy to open. This is always a good thing when coming across product with hard plastic packaging. So overall I personally think that Korg did a great job with the packaging and presenation of their product!

- Extras : Aside from the product we received from Korg, we didn’t receive any extras such as business cards, fliers, etc. This is perfectly fine, being that they are a very high volume company. Although included with the actual product there was some goodies such as some simple directions and batteries.

- Design : The design of the Monotron Duo is pretty unique. It’s very easy to use, and easy to take around. Some cool information about the Monotron Duo is that it offers two oscillators. The monotron DUO adds an extra dimension, delivering an even more extreme sound. Tune the oscillators in unison for a rich, thick, analog tone. Tune them in intervals for classic soloing sounds and generating new effects. The X-MOD (cross modulation) circuit taken from Korg’s classic Mono/Poly can introduce a mild or razor-sharp edge to the overall sound; everything from a rich vibrato to extreme metallic sounds reminiscent of an FM synth. Some of the features of the Montron Duo is that it has 2 analog oscillators (VCO) with individual tunings. A Edgy X-MOD (with Intensity knob) circuit from Korg’s classic Mono/Poly. A VCF with Cutoff and Peak Control. A Ribbon controller keyboard with Scale Select and an original Analog (VCF) Filter taken from the classic MS-10 & MS-20

- Quality : The overall quality if superb. The Korg Monotron Duo was very fun and easy to use. I would highly recommend it to anyone out there. It provides some great quality sounds also! The staff over at Korg was super friendly and helpful when introducing us to their products. So with that being said, if you are looking for some great product for music, Korg is definitely a company you should look into! Can’t wait to see what Korg will come out with next!

- Pricing : Last but not least I know you are asking yourself just how much does a Korg Monotron Duo cost? Well you can get one on the Korg website for about $49.99. Pretty standard yet affordable price for a cool device like this. So you are definitely getting your money’s worth when shopping at Korg!
