So tell us a little bit about yourself?

- My name is Mark but you can call me Shark Anthony! I’m a 20 year old hip-hop artist/producer who is trying to bring a new sound to the forefront of music! I’m also a college student studying Business Marketing. I pride myself on making 100% of my music…from the instrumentals, lyrics, vocal recordings, to the mixing and mastering!

What inspired you to start singing?

- Growing up my father introduced me to artists that were his favorites like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Frank Sinatra, The Alman Brothers, Black Sabbath, and Billy Joel. I started playing drums in the 5th grade band so these classic artists had a huge influence on me, but it wasn’t till I heard bands like Rage Against The Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, that I had found a passion for rhyming and singing!

Were there any hard challenges you had to face in the industry?

- Being original. I started making solo music at 15 years old with one the name, then switched to another, and then to another. It took years for me to finally grow up as an artist, picking an original name and idea for what I wanted myself to be seen as. When an artist starts to create music, they want to sound like the people they are influenced by! I think that’s great, but you aren’t making moves forward until you realize you’ve got to be the first YOU, instead of a copy of one of your idols.

What ways have you found was the best way to promote yourself?

- Performing in front of people, no matter how big or small the crowd is! And of course……Networking networking networking!!!

What would be your most memorable moment while singing?

- In high school, I performed during halftime of a football game in front of my entire school! It was fun and my peers started to recognize me as an artist with a drive to go somewhere with music.

Are there any goals that you would like to achieve?

- The only major goal I’d like to achieve is building a fan base that loves my music as much as I do making it. Many artists are on that hunt for quick Facebook likes and such, but I want every fan to be a true one, not somebody I had to force into following my music.

What can we expect from you in the future?

- There is actually a lot you can expect from me in the future! Right now I’m working on a music video for one of my songs called “Die Down” which I’m looking to release on October 1st, before my album drops on October 31st. With rapping and songwriting, I also produce all my own material, so you’ll be hearing other artists go in on beats I’ve made which I’m very excited about! I love collaborating with artists sharing the same mindset as me, so the future looks bright!

Are there any upcoming albums you are releasing?

- For the last 2 years I’ve been working on a project called “Hidden Reef” and I’m very close to having it finalized! The album will include songs with me rapping/singing on my original instrumentals, songs featuring my girlfriend Rikki singing, and a set of strictly instrumental material without any vocals. Being that my name is Shark Anthony, “Hidden Reef” will be the first of many “underwater” themed projects I release. I want my music to take people down to a place they couldn’t go without hearing my material. I want to be refreshing and I have faith that “Hidden Reef” will be the perfect start for doing that. October 31st. Remember that date!

What do you think of FKN Famous?

- I actually love FKN Famous! Most Internet magazines/blogs only post music related articles but I really appreciate the diversity on this site! The things I can I read about are limitless and I enjoy having many categories of things to read through! My personal favorite is actually the gadget section! I don’t know why but I love seeing reviews and thoughts on new toys! This blog is dope and I’m most definitely passing it on to all my friends!

Any last shout outs?

- SHOUT OUTS TO BRIAN BURKARD, RIKKI, RACHEL, CAITLIN, CASSANDRA, KARMA & FREAK OF THE UNKNOWN ACADEMY), DAVE & RAPPER RICH OF TYPE REAL, DJ SHERMS AKA KEEP THE MONSTERS FRESH, MATT MEYER LANSKY, MAU AKA MY FAVORITE GUITARIST EVER, ANDOVER, AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS SUPPORTED ME NO MATTER WHAT PATH I’VE TAKEN IN MUSIC….YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! I LOVE YOU ALL!
