So tell us about your brand?

– We are a London UK based brand; we have been around since 2008. We are now in our 3rd season the #InsurrectionCollection to commemorate the memorable UK Riots leading up to 2011. We are now working on our fourth season and are very excited about the future DropOuts lines.

How did you come up with the name?

– A lot of people think our name is about dropping out of college or University..etc but it was the opposite We both went to Uni , the name came about because at Uni we were considered the the anti-social bunch, instead of going to the fancy dress parties and voting for the next student president, we were smoking hot boxing the communal laundry room, instead of chilling on campus we would be going on road trips, never really got involved in any uni events. We were dubbed those guys who will most probably drop out, but we all graduated. We laughed about it while at Uni and the name DropOuts stems from there, it was more of an ironic thing.

What were you doing before launching your brand?

– We were in our last year of Uni studying hard for our final exams

When did you begin thinking about launching your own clothing brand?

– It was in our last year of Uni we decided that, this is what we wanted to do, all we ever talked about was clothes, and what brands we liked, we figured we could do it ourselves. It might not have been the best timing to try and start up a clothing line when you’ve got finals around the corner but we were determined. We already had the designs; We always used to do little doodles and sketches while in classes and compare them. A lot of the designs you see on our first season tees are our class sketches evolved. The Ugly grad logo is an example.

What best describes your line & who is it targeted to?

– We never wanted to pigeon hole ourselves we just wanted to aim it at those who wanted to be different, because they way we were, Why fit in when you can stand out as Joe Budden says, but excluding the 3rd season it is very cartoon based imagery such as the Tank Boy tee from Season 1.

What influenced you to start this line?

– Answered in “When did you begin thinking about launching your own clothing brand?”

How is your brand different from others out there?

– We try not to look at what other brands are doing or follow trends, we are a bunch of guys who love art, fashion and music, we try and design garments we would wear, that’s how we started and that’s how we built up a following so we try to stick to that format as it works for us.

What ways did you find promoting your brand worked?

– Twitter works a treat for us, on our second season twitter was our main marketing tool and we secured 2 x Retailer and Sold out of a lot of our stock, to the point where we had to re-stock some of the more popular pieces. In our 3rd season the #Insurrection Collection, Instagram was starting to really become really popular so we utilized this. Social networking can work just as well as printed media. It’s just keeping up with all the different Social networking portals, that is not easy.

Are there any future plans for your line?

– At the moment we are planning for season 4, we have so many designs , it takes us time to choose which ones as we all have different favorites, we don’t really stick to Summer or winter releases, as over here in the UK its difficult to differentiate between those seasons as 90% of the time it is wet and cold and the sun shows up rarely so we just produce whatever we want wear. We have some great new tee designs, we’re looking at trying to bring out more accessories and are currently considering a few 5 panel cap designs. The next season will feature the new ‘Dead Scholars Logo’ which you can see on our Instagram profile, twitter and FB. As soon we are ready to drop some new apparel FKN will be the 1st to know about it.

How did you hear about FKN Famous & what do you think of us?

– We are big fans of FKN, we found out about FKN on Instagram, we went to the site and liked what we saw, we liked the in-depth fashion brand reviews and are buzzing at getting the opportunity to have our DropOuts brand featured.
